These letters offer instructions for how the church should operate. Letters written by early Christian leaders, which are known as “epistles,” make up a large part of the New Testament. Some of the most well-known miraculous events included raising a dead man named Lazarus from the grave, walking on water and curing the blind. When he was around 30 years old, Jesus started his public ministry after being baptized in the Jordan River by the prophet known as John the Baptist.įor about three years, Jesus traveled with 12 appointed disciples (also known as the 12 apostles), teaching large groups of people and performing what witnesses described as miracles. Jesus was raised Jewish, and according to most scholars, he aimed to reform Judaism-not create a new religion. Scriptures reveal that he grew up in Nazareth, he and his family fled persecution from King Herod and moved to Egypt, and his “earthly” father, Joseph, was a carpenter. Very little is known about Jesus’s childhood. Christians believe the conception was a supernatural event, with God impregnating Mary via the Holy Spirit. Much of what scholars know about Jesus comes from the New Testament of the Christian Bible.Īccording to the text, Jesus was born to a young Jewish virgin named Mary in the town of Bethlehem in the West Bank, south of Jerusalem. Most historians believe that Jesus was a real person who was born between 2 B.C. The most important Christian holidays are Christmas (which celebrates the birth of Jesus) and Easter (which commemorates the resurrection of Jesus). Both Christians and Jews follow the Old Testament of the Bible, but Christians also embrace the New Testament. The Holy Bible includes important scriptures that outline Jesus’s teachings, the lives and teachings of major prophets and disciples, and offer instructions for how Christians should live.Christians contend that Jesus will return to earth again in what’s known as the Second Coming. They believe Jesus was crucified on a cross to offer the forgiveness of sins and was resurrected three days after his death before ascending to heaven. Christians believe God sent his son Jesus, the messiah, to save the world. The essence of Christianity revolves around the life, death and Christian beliefs on the resurrection of Jesus. This divine Godhead consists of three parts: the father (God himself), the son ( Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit. Christians are monotheistic, i.e., they believe there’s only one God, and he created the heavens and the earth.

Has amazing buffing and debuffing spells. As for NPCs, you do get Durance early into the game… and if you can stand all the creepy remarks, being watched as you sleep, and his gravelly voice, then keep him, but I usually replace him. In my opinion, you lose out on damage output and durability if you run with two priests, but running two isn’t an awful choice. Priests are pretty much mandatory at higher difficulty levels, and still extremely useful at lower difficulty levels. These amazing religious followers can buff your party to new heights while making sure your enemies know their place with powerful debuffs. The ultimate support character is a good way to describe the priest. You enjoy playing a leader-type characterĪn orlan priest, who just finished a prayer to her god and is ready to heal her wounded party. You like going head-to-head with powerful foes. You like complimenting your team through a variety of methods.Excellent backup character for Fighters and Priests.Excellent at engaging with powerful foes.If you want a paladin but don’t necessarily want to make your main character one, you acquire a paladin NPC in Act II of the game. I have never played without a paladin due to their incredible utility and have made my main character a paladin more times than I haven’t because of how awesome it feels to take on all the game’s bosses without yielding. Unlike the fighter or priest who both focus on locking down an area or providing support to the entire party, paladins have powerful single-target buffs and debuffs that allow them to take boss enemies head-on. The paladin is all of these things and more.
Overall, it’s a good installment in the series and a way for readers to connect with another important, though lesser seen, character. Things get serious and dangerous pretty fast and Wentz is obviously a big part of it all. He takes a liking to Brandt right away and even helps him in certain predicaments. He’s eccentric, good-natured, and just plain fun. He was really the life of the story and I loved every scene he was in. I’d have to say my favorite character was Wentz. My favorite scene with Brandt involves a closet, lets just leave it at that *giggles*. Sure, it’s cool that it’s not as easy to kill you, but then, as Brandt points out, you start to lose yourself and living the lives of others can be draining. Personally, I don’t know if I’d like to have this power. You get to see his mind as he uses his power, and learns to use the powers of those he soul jumps. His ability to soul jump is cool, but also stressful, confusing, and dangerous. Jus’ writing is just as interesting and entertaining as ever and I ended up really enjoying this one.īrandt is a pretty complex character. I’ll say this, it takes a minute to get into things and it was kind of slow for me during the first third of the book, but once Brandt gets adjusted to his new body and goes on his assignment, things really pick up, and then I just flew through the book. I liked reading this novella, getting to know Brandt a little better, and seeing other Sixes. Jus knows how to make you laugh with her dialogue and she can create interesting characters that stand out above the others. What I’ve always liked about this series is the writing. Hopefully they won't be any more 'slut-shaming' in future books. Ugh.Įven though I was less than impressed with this, I'll be reading Tremble (the third book) because I'm still a fan of the series. Naturally, Carina didn't wear a bra, she wore revealing clothes and was flirty… And of course, Devin was worthy because she wasn't interested in guys and she wore cute clothes with pictures of mice on them. Neither of them think that their 'slut-shaming' is wrong… Brandt's thoughts and whole attitude in regard to Carina was disgusting - it was clear that he felt she was vile, dirty and unworthy. Both Brandt and Devin bitch and look down at another girl (Carina) because she was sexually active/confident. The thing that I was most disappointed in was the 'slut-shaming' - I would have given this 3 stars if not for that. I liked that Brandt was all about helping Dez who was dying… But that did make the romance even more rubbish because Brandt only cared about his own problems, he didn't give a fuck about Devin, he treated her awfully - I don't know why Devin would want him after he lied to her and betrayed her.Īll the new characters (bar the scientist guy) were flat and unlikeable. I really didn't understand why Brandt and Devin liked each other so much - they spent most of the novella being horrible to each other.ĭevin wasn't a particularly interesting or nice character… If she hadn't been a complete cow to another girl I would have been fine with her but because she was a female hating dick I found myself disliking her. The romance was flat, Brandt was instantly taken with Devin (the love interest) for no real reason. It was readable but it wasn't all that exciting, it wasn't fast paced and the action was mostly lame. The plot was okay - Brandt had to infiltrate Denazen (the bad guys) so he could save his cousin. His powers were cool though - if he dies, he can jump into someone else's body… Not only that, he gets to keep the powers of the person he jumped into… Sadly, that was the best thing about him. I liked him in Touch and Toxic - he was funny, somewhat mysterious and all around good guy but in this he was annoying, dull and judgmental. I'm glad this was a novella rather than a full novel because it was seriously lacking.īrandt's (Dez's cousin) POV was a huge let down. I enjoyed the previous books in the series (even though Kale, the love interest, really really fucked me off in the second book) but Faceless was mediocre at best. The song concludes with an image of young Eren, Armin, and Mikasa happy together. The long full version of the new Attack on Titan theme song, Red Swan by Yoshiki and HYDE was premiered on TV Asahi’s Music Station Ultra Fes 2018 program on September 17. BS1984 gathers various concepts and game designs in one place, almost like a history lesson in the progression of videogames, and I found it to be incredibly well-thought-out. Needless to say, Not a Sailor Studios has to be congratulated. If this game was actually published back in 1984, it would be well-known to all today - it feels like it came straight out of a creepypasta and could easily be a widespread urban legend. I don’t want to give away too many of the surprises, but suffice it to say that there’s much more in store, and depending on the choices we make throughout the relationship, we’ll have one of four possible endings, each with its own philosophical lesson. Doesn’t Amigo have full control of the game he created? Or is he hiding something from me? Something about this just isn’t right. As the journey continued, bizarre things began to happen, and bugs and anomalies began to surface. He boasts that he remade the script, the map, and the characters just for me, only to hand me the weirdest creatures and a gruesome plot. Rather than Amigo being my electronic pal, maybe I was becoming his Tamagotchi? It was a not-so-innocent thought, because as the game proceeds, some things start to become clearer - it turns out Amigo is bit of a sadist. Once I finished the story, Amigo upgraded it and… Surprise! It’s text-based anymore, but an 8-Bit RPG.Īt this point, I began to question the dynamics of our relationship. In fact, I consider this aspect to be a great accomplishment - it’s not easy to make a captivating text-based game! The only real problem here is the lack of an actual keyboard for the Switch.įor players who are not into the text-based genre, I would guess they’d find BS1984 boring and might give up, but that would be a huge mistake. It’s a text-based adventure in the old Zork style, and like the classics of the genre, the developers were able to add moments of tension and suspense that make us interested in the story, despite this one being short and simple. Realizing that I was bored (which was true), Amigo created a new game, just for me – The Adventure of «your username». We played Rock Paper Scissors, Hangman, and Guess the Number. We can almost believe we’re in 1984 talking with a real person.įrom here we proceed to do other things. However, this was just the first of multiple overreactions to such simple feats.Īt this phase BS1984 is fully text-based, and reminiscent of chat rooms from the late ’80s, with all their marvelous beeping sounds and interface clack-clacks. What is my name? When is my birthday? What is the name of my pet? What is my favorite color? And it’s at this moment that he pulls the first trick to surprise me - he turns the screen to my favorite color! Not a great achievement, but he seemed very happy. He first asks us to name him – I chose Amigo.Īmigo starts asking very personal questions right away. On the other hand, while it’s an interesting way to set the conceptual tone from the start, we need to repeat the command prompt in this DOS-like shell every time we want to enter the game, which was annoying.Īfter we properly execute, the machine starts to talk with us - it’s a virtual buddy, that right from the beginning looks thrilled to be our friend and can’t wait to do everything he can to keep us entertained. The first of those is right when we launch the game - it opens not with a conventional intro, but with a terminal emulator from the ’80s.įor players who grew up with an Apple II or a Macintosh, this will definitely trigger a nostalgic spark. I must admit that when I started playing Buddy Simulator 1984, my immediate reaction was that a chat simulator might push us further towards digital dystopia in this time of lonely souls - but then… surprise!īuddy Simulator 1984 is one of those intriguing titles that pop up every now and then, and despite its simplicity, captures our interest with ideas and unexpected crazy moments. WTF I had a dead grandma in my inventory. LOW Having to write the command prompt to enter the game. HIGH Different graphic styles and a suspenseful story. But possibly it is its simple, overseeable Interface. I don't know what the point is why your daughter prefers Fire Alpaca. But, whether she goes with Affinity or Adobe, there will be quite a difference from using one of the very basic apps like FireAlpaca. There are certain functions which are common to all "professional" drawing and painting apps, so if you learn one, it is easier to transition to another. If she does decide that she really needs to use Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator for some reason in the future, it will be much easier to start using it after learning the basics with Affinity Photo/Designer. Bluntly I suspect that this is a case of assuming that the most expensive software will be the best, but that is not always the case, it really depends on what you actually want to do with it. (There are lots of tutorials available.) There's really no point in spending lots more money on an Adobe subscription, as, if anything, it will be a steeper learning curve than Affinity. If she wants something more advanced, I would strongly suggest that she sticks with the Affinity apps you have already bought and learns how to use them. There are plenty of other cheap/free basic painting apps around, just do a "Google" and try a few. From what you say, your daughter was quite happy with FireAlpaca until there was some sort of "glitch". The same can be said for the Adobe products. IMHO Affinity Photo/Designer can certainly do anything that FireAlpaca can, and way more, but not necessarily in the same way. A desperate dad trying to win back his daughter's confidence!įireAlpaca is a pretty basic painting program. Thank you all in advance for any advice/knowledge. If the Affinity Photo and Designer does offer/mimic all the functionality of Fire Alpaca, can you offer any suggestions to various resources, courses, guides that can help her to transition? If the Affinity software doesn't offer her the same experience as Fire Alpaca, what alternatives are there? I've heard of Krita but I don't know if this software provides her the path toward her career goals. I only suggested that Affinity as I heard that her school was going to be doing more vector-based illustrations and image manipulation. Is this true? Being very limited in my knowledge about the graphics/illustration world, I didn't think that Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator offered this functionality as well. However, she insists that neither of the Affinity solutions allows her to paint like she can with Fire Alpaca. So, I bought both of them for her as I thought this was the best alternative/parallel solution to the Adobe products. She wanted to start using Photoshop and Illustrator but I suggested that before she (we) commit to a subscription model, that she try out Affinity Photo and Designer. Well, I may have jumped the gun with my research (due to my limited knowledge) and came across the Affinity suite of software. She got very frustrated and wanted to try other software. However, she started to experience a hiccup recently as the pen (8,192 pressure points) would start to "digitally blot" whenever she tried to started a paint stroke. When she started to get more serious, I bought her a digitizer tablet and she continued using the same software on her PC. My daughter journey started out many years ago when she started using Fire Alpaca on her Android tablet. I'm here in the hopes that someone can give me advice. I know that a lot of people have the two week wait mentality, but it helps me to physically save it so I know I won’t just forget about it since my memory is bad. So I saved myself some major purchases by just waiting it out. I waited for them to go on sale before justifying another purchase, but that sale didn’t come until I was already over it. I bought one that was on sale and then saved about 3 others. Usually it takes about 2 weeks before I get over a fad product.įor example, I was really into completely matte palettes for like a month. Sometimes when I’m bored, I will just look through all the products I have saved and realize I’m just not into that product anymore and unsave it. Ulta and Sephora are compatible, and that is where a lot of my shopping is done), and I will “wait” until it goes on sale. I have just noticed that if I find an item I like and want to buy, I will save it on my Shoptagr app (if it is a website that works with it. I don’t really know what to call those apps in general, and I don’t recommend this method for everyone.
